Have you ever thought that your Google blogger or Blogspot pages might require basic SEO settings to acquire decent traffic from search engines?
Do you know that Google ranks your web pages based on the content and customized searches related to your topic?
Yes! The algorithm of many search engines like Google, Yahoo, and Bing have been constructed in such a way that they compare your content with similar content available on the internet and rank your web pages based on certain rules and regulations.
This is the reason why whenever we search for a topic in Google, we get the top-ranked 5 or 10 web pages on its first page.
BUT HOW DOES GOOGLE KNOW WHICH WEB PAGE TO SHOW FIRST?
Yes! It’s very difficult for search engines like Google to analyze each and every web page and find the type of traffic these web pages are getting. Instead, if a publisher can facilitate search engines by providing certain metadata and keywords regarding the topic on their web page, it will become easy for search engines to analyze the content and to show relevant results whenever we do search on the internet.
This entire process is called SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION /SEO. It’s a known fact that SEO has a tremendous impact on the revenue generation capabilities of websites or web pages. Bloggers can earn good revenue if their blogs are SEO-ready. WordPress has a famous “Yoast SEO” plugin for making their websites or blogs search engine optimized.
But Blogspot lacks such type of plugins. But with a few simple steps in Blogspot, we can optimize these web pages and can rank better in searches.
7 STEPS TO MAKE YOUR BLOGSPOT SEO READY:
STEP 1: PROVIDING KEY TERMS THAT DESCRIBE YOUR BLOG
Open settings in your blog > go to “Basics”. Go to the description box and click on it. A dialog box will open asking you to describe your blog. In the description box, describe your blog with certain keywords related to your blog.
After the description, next comes the Langauge settings. Specify your language in the box. If it is English, do not alter the settings and set it to the default English language.
If your Blog is related to a specific age group or “Adults only group”, then you should activate the “Adults” button. Moreover, you can also activate the “Age confirmation” option in the settings, where the viewer has to confirm his age before entering your blog.
The next option is for your Analytics data. You can enter your google analytics ID by clicking on the option.
The next option is for FAVICON. When you click on the option a dialog box opens and asks you to upload your favicon.
After entering the following data, press “Save changes”. Now you can complete the first step (Basic settings).

STEP 2: Activate HTTPS redirect
HTTPS is a symbol for a secured connection. Google and other search engines rank sites with secured connections much faster when compared to HTTP connections.
Hence always opt for an HTTPS connection.

STEP 3: ENABLE META TAGS
Enable meta tags option. Search descriptions (present below “enable search description”) under meta tags in blogger are short descriptive statements or tags about your blog.
They help the search engines to understand your blog and its content well. Moreover, they aid in specifying the niche your blog belongs to.
It is a bit different from your blog description present in your basic settings. The blog description in basic settings is intended to be viewed by the viewers to understand the blog. On the other hand, the meta tag description is intended for the search engines to understand the blog.
For example, if I am creating a blog about blogging and affiliate marketing, then I will write in the meta description as follows” The blog describes basic and advanced skills in blogging and affiliate marketing”.

Enabling search description also adds an extra option to your blog post. Here you can describe the post with a few meta tags, which can be easily understood by the search engines.
For example, if I want to write about “10 important things to understand in affiliate marketing”, I will write the entire post and I will add a meta description exclusively about the article in the meta description box given on the blog post page.

STEP 4: ENABLE CUSTOM ROBOTS
In the Crawlers and indexing section, click to activate the “Enable custom robots.txt” and “Custom robots.txt” options.

STEP 6: PASTE THE SITEMAP CODE IN THE CUSTOM ROBOTS AREA
